Between local favorites Trophy Brewing and Irregardless, sits a trio of houses located just as the road begins to bend towards Hillsborough St. In 2022 these buildings were purchased with a vision of bringing new life and purpose to the structures (which had fallen into a bit of disrepair), and a project aptly named “The Bend” was born.
On Monday in observance of MLK Day of Service we returned to Alliance Medical Ministry to volunteer in their garden. We were thrilled they were able to host us for the 2nd year in a row, and this year we even had some team member’s kiddos in tow to amplify our support!
Today David presented at the Historic Tax Credit Workshop in Albemarle, NC. This marked his 25th workshop presentation in towns across our state - sharing information and guidance on utilizing historic tax credits to encourage the rehabilitation of historic downtown buildings.

This 3 story, historic building located in the heart of downtown Wilson is about to receive a long overdue restoration!
Dating back from between 1908 to 1913, the building was originally built for the Wells Grocery Company owned by a prominent Wilson merchant and tobacconist, and later occupied by G.S. Tucker & Company, a Raleigh-based furniture company which opened its first store in Wilson in 1896.
In the Historic Boylan Heights neighborhood off of South St sits this handsome, thoughtfully renovated home.
After partnering with the owner in 2021, plans for the renovation and addition of this two-story duplex began to take shape. Some of the major alterations included:

Last week the Andrews-Duncan House received Capital Area Preservation’s Anthemion Award for Residential Rehabilitation. The Anthemion Awards “recognize outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in historic preservation of Wake County”. This award highlights the owners, architect, designers, and contractors who were committed to bringing this historic structure back to life.
After gaining popularity in Durham over the past 5 years, the owners decided to share their mouthwatering menu with the Raleigh community - opening a 2nd location at the highly anticipated Raleigh Iron Works (a new mixed-use development off of Atlantic Ave).
Renovations are advancing at the Pittsboro Community House!
Originally constructed in 1936, this stone building once served as the Town Library and later as a Union Hall. More recently the space has been used for events. This charming community house has a large front porch and a 900 sq ft main hall (accommodating ~140 people).
Last week Creative Mornings and F*ckup Nights hosted an event centered around encouraging vulnerability, celebrating creativity, and most importantly… normalizing failure.
