The North Carolina Main Street Conference is the largest statewide downtown revitalization conference in the country (wow!), and is held at a different Main Street community each year. The theme of this year’s conference: Ignite, Activate, Empower…Main Street! Focusing on exploring and showcasing the innovative ways Main Street communities are implementing design improvements to motivate residents and visitors to live, shop, and explore downtown.
We look forward to this conference every year. It creates a wonderful opportunity to learn from and engage with individuals and professionals who are as energized by downtown communities as we are.
David has presented at multiple Main Street Conferences over the years, and this year was no exception. Leading a break-out session titled “The Ripple Effect of Residential Redevelopment”, he highlighted the economic and social impact that downtown residents have in Main Street communities; sharing stories, experiences and insights on the various ways these downtowns have evolved as a result.
Fun Fact - in 2016 the Main Street Conference held its first session on upper story residential development, and over the past eight years a total of 8,000 housing units have been constructed across NC Main Street districts (another wow!).
