One of Raleigh’s most iconic patios is transitioning to its next chapter! A new roof top canopy is being installed on the patio at 225 S Wilmington St, formerly known as The Hive and Trophy Tap & Table.
If you were up early and downtown last weekend you may have noticed a crane parked on Wilmington Street. The original plan was to hoist the new canopy steel beams to the rooftop from the adjacent parking deck, but before the process began it was determined that the crane was too heavy!
Thanks to some creative problem solving by Riley-Lewis General Contractors, the construction team was able to pivot. Instead, on Saturday the steel beams were lifted safely from the street, threaded through a 2nd story window, and carried out to the roof deck.
