Progress is being made at The Lofts at Old Town Hall project in Clayton. What was originally built as Clayton's Town Hall in 1925, this building has housed municipal offices, a library, courthouse, fire department, police department, and small jail. It is now being repurposed to occupy sixteen, one-bedroom apartments.
The project is utilizing historic tax credits to best restore and emphasize the historic character of the building. The transformed spaces will highlight this character with refinished hardwood floors and restored, original woodwork and windows. The large, original windows will allow for lots of natural light.
Drawings are in for permits, and construction will soon begin.
